Happy Nisol Day!

The husband is working on a sci-fi fiction novel that is set in a dystopian world that is eerily familiar, resembling much of Japan.  I love the world (named Nisol, hence Nisol day!) and setting he created in his novel, that I was inspired to create a little goody box based on a scene in his book.  I made up a little holiday inspired by the holidays that were used in the book - white day, peppero day, etc.  This holiday is called "Nisol Day," and on Nisol day, you give your loved one a box of treats, drink Ramune, eat a bowl of ramen, eat a crepe, and go to teppanyaki.  Well, you'd have to read the book in order to fully understand, so hopefully he can get it published some day!  For now, let's just enjoy some cute packaging and kawaii snacks:

Etsy Find Post #6 - Bellamela

hello bunnies!

Today, I am posting about a recent purchase I made on Etsy from Bellamela's shop.  Since I just recently purchased a macbook pro, I needed a nice laptop sleeve.  Searched through Etsy, and found the cutest sleeves ever!  Check it out here.  Although, she is on vacation right now, so you will need to wait to see the products... But here is a sneak peak of the laptop case.  It's so cute and I love the way it fits so perfectly on my laptop.  Price is excellent too! Only 19.99!

Akiba

I am obsessed with cute dessert/cafes.  I know I have mentioned before that if there is a cute sign or kawaii design to a store or restaurant, I will immediately want to go in.  We passed by this cafe one day and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this cafe.  It was so cute.  Naturally, i got super excited and forced the husband to go in with me.  Turned out to be a true gem.  I loved everything about this cafe.

Great menu ranging from crepes to coffees and teas.  I gravitated toward their dessert selection which is listed on a separate menu.

Wouldn't you want to walk in if you were passing by?

Typo.

They just recently opened a store called Typo at Stonestown in San Francisco.  Given my natural draw to stationary and office supplies, I was excited to see this store.  They have such cute notebooks, journals, office supplies, washi tapes, stamps, and stationaries.  I believe they are an Australian brand associated with another clothing store I like, called Cotton-On.  I am very appealed to the aesthetics of this store and wanted to buy everything!  Unfortunately, the stuff is on the pricier side.  A girl can still dream though!  Here's a few items in the store I was drawn to:

Yes, this is definitely my store -- They have a Bunny Kit!!! Now, what is a bunny kit???  I have no idea.  It was so cute though!  Look at my ecstatic expression.  I am a sucker for anything that has cute bunny and/or is bunny themed.

Artsy prints + disposable cameras.  Enjoyed the photographic, colorful prints on canvas.  The canvas gives it an artsy feel in spite of its mass production.  Love it!

Just a snippet of the many notebook and journal designs.  I would totally buy these if I was still in school.  Otherwise, I have no use for them really.

I am happy they opened this store at Stonestown.  I will make sure to pay a visit every time I make my way to that mall.  The mall now has two must go-to stops: Yesstyle + Typo <3

Cherry Blossom Festival

Went to the Japantown Cherry Blossom Festival this weekend.  It was bustling with many people.  Had my favorite food stand go to's - ichigawa yaki & fried mocha.  Yum!  Then we went walking through the crowds and into my favorite stores.

image

Maido Finds.  First is decorative tape.  They had a nice selection.  I am a fan of the plaid and panda tapes.

image

And of course, rilakkuma products.  This is the one reason I'd want an iPhone - otherwise I'll stick with android.  Must find a rilakkuma case for android phones!!

Great day at the cherry blossom festival.  There are no cherry blossom pictures though because the cherry blossom trees were wilting.  Spring came too fast

Food days

I look forward to my weekends when I can indulge in eating out.  Last weekend we had Paris Baguette and tried a new ramen store in Santa Clara.  Miss living there so much.

Paris Baguette Creme Brûlée: Tasty, but not my personal preference.  I am still in love w/ Andersen Bakery's more humble and simple creme brûlée.

I am all about this packaging.  I love how cute they made their cups.

If there is any food that I would be willing to eat at any time, it would be ramen.  Love Ramen.

Tea Time

Tea makes my days brighter.  Sat down to make myself a little afternoon tea with tea snacks.  A mix of savory and sweet snacks goes very well with green genmaicha tea.

Image

Also, I just downloaded Instagram for Android.  Previously, I was using Mytubo, which has really nice filters too.  You can tell the difference in quality though - the above photo is instagram, while the photo below is mytubo.  The only thing I don't like about the instagram is that you have to crop the photo.

Handmade Gift Basket Idea

Lately, I've been in to making handmade gifts for friends.  It's so much fun to put together, plus it gives me a chance to attend to the packaging aesthetics.  This was a gift I put together for Christmas, but it could be for any day of the year.  This package has a homemade sugar scrub, green tea facial mask, and a bar of soap.  Click here for the homemade sugar scrub tutorial, and the green tea facial mask tutorial.  I love how both feel and the effect it has on my skin.  It always feels more clear and bright after these treatments.

To both recipes, I added vitamin E oil for more moisturizing value, as well as skin damage renewal.

In the photo, I got the basket and jars from Daiso.  I got the filler from the dollar store.  The packaging consists of simple stamps, tissue paper, and card stock.  And the actual products inside were basic household products.  This is the other great aspect of homemade gifts -- you can make a lot for all your friends without going over your budget.  It's the effort and love that you put in rather than the cost!

Journal Transformation

I've had this pink journal that was purchased on clearance from borders for quite some time.  I've never had the urge to use it because it was so plain.  Hence, my decision to dress it up.  With some wash tapes and paper, I've transformed this plain pink journal!  Am excited to use this now.  See how much aesthetics affect me?

Before: Empty Journal getting ready to be decorated with rilakkuma stickers & washi tapes!

image

During: Bunny decided to join in on the crafting!

image

After: Finished Product! I ended up not using the rilakkuma stickers because it didn't seem to fit.  But I plan to decorate the back cover accordingly.
